Speaking in his role as a Sky Sports pundit on Sky's Monday Night Football show, Carragher stated how impressed he has been with the former Burnley striker.
He said: 'Sturridge is finishing and deserves the accolades, but a lot of it is coming from Danny Ings. He's pressing people, running in behind them and making the game quicker.
He also added: 'If Danny Ings keeps playing like that it'll be difficult for (Christian) Benteke to get back into team when he comes back.'
Belgium international Benteke who joined Liverpool for a club record fee during the past transfer window is currently out of action with a hamstring injury.
He had also stated how impressed he was with Ings's strike partner Daniel Sturridge's ability in front of goal:
Danny Ings joined Liverpool during the summer from relegated Burnley for free and will be keen on winning a permanent spot in Liverpool's first XI.
