Didi Hamann wants Bayern to sack average Guardiola

The former Germany and Liverpool midfielder refuses to be impressed by the Spanish coach who has failed to win the Champions League since his arrival.

He also feels the Catalan manager must win the Champions League this season if he wants his time in Bavaria to be regarded as a success.

He was asked on Sky Sport what rating he would give Guardiola's time so far, he said while opining that former coaches Louis van Gaal and Jupp Heynckes would have been sacked if they were in charge:

"I believe the club wouldn't do too badly if they brought in another coach," he told Sky. "If I had to rate him from one to ten I would give him a five, right in the middle."

"In the league they've been great but in the cup they were beaten by Dortmund, who had 10 men. And in the Champions League they have failed twice."

"I don't know if Louis van Gaal or Jupp Heynckes would still be in office with results like that. You can lose against Real Madrid or Barcelona but their naivety was very upsetting."

"This year Guardiola must be honest. If he wants to be remembered as a success he needs to win the Champions League.
