Tottenham release Adebayor from contract

Is Kane begging him not to go?

The Togolese striker has now been released from his contract. Tottenham were keen to offload the player during the last transfer window but were unable to as the player insisted Tottenham pay him the £5m on his remaining contract.

However, it seems an agreement has been reached with the player free to join any club from January onwards.

The club released a statement on their twitter account

"We can confirm that we've reached a mutual agreement with @E_Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club.

The Togo international was linked with summer moves to Aston Villa and West Ham, and is now free to join a new club with his deal at White Hart Lane cut short.

He leaves after scoring 24 goals in 76 appearances in his 3 year spell with the North London club.
