Gareth Bale bags hat-trick of awards at Wales awards night

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale won a hat-trick of awards at the annual Football Association of Wales awards night, picking up three of the big prizes on offer.

The Welsh no 11 attended the event at Cardiff's City Hall less than 24 hours after Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with city rivals Atletico alongside his team-mates from the national side.

Among those present were Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey, Swansea captain Ashley Williams, and Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen as they celebrated a remarkable year of success, with manager Chris Coleman also there to take the Media Choice award.

The Madrid forward posted on twitter his delight at winning the awards:

"Huge honour to be voted @FAWalesPlayer of the Year from the boys, big thank you to everyone involved! pic.twitter.com/oME56mYzMt— Gareth Bale (@GarethBale11)

Bale claimed the Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year having scored six of the nine Wales goals during the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Bale also assisted two goals to leave his country on the brink of progress to France next year, a first major tournament since1958.
