The player has now credited the upturn in his goal scoring fortune towards the contribution of wingers Douglas Costa and Kingley Coman. The former Borrusia Dortmund man also praised the contribution of German forward Thomas Muller.

The striker hit all the five goals as he single handedly master minded the demolition of rivals Wolfsburg, days later the Bayern no 9 hit two more goals in the defeat of Mainz before following it up with another hattrick in the Champions League demolition of Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb to bring his tally in his last three matches to ten goals.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Lewandowski highlighted the influence of tactics and other players:

'With Douglas Costa and Coman on the wings, there are lots of crosses, and therefore lots of chances in the box.

'And it also helps that Thomas Muller is playing very closely tome, like a second striker. It's hard to keep the ball when you're up against four defenders and two holding midfielders by yourself.

'It's easier with somebody next to you, somebody you can combine with.'

Lewandowski and Muller have netted 16 goals between them this season - twice the number they managed at the same point last term.
