Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace: Sako destroys Mourinho's men

Chelsea suffered only their second home league defeat with Jose Mourinho as manager on Saturday.

Although loan signing Falcao got off the mark for the the defending Premier League champions they couldn't avoid the loss which makes the prospect of back-to-back titles look bleak.

The visitors took the lead through Sako in the 56th minute after he cleared a goal bound shot off the line in his own box.

It looked like the home side had snatched a point when second half substitute Falcao headed in a Pedro delivery, but such hopes were dashed when Palace scored what turned out to be the winner less than two minutes after.

The home team struggled to break down the Palace defence, with the away team's goalkeeper Alex McCarthy at his best, keeping out shots from Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas in the latter stages of the first half.

Chelsea's unconvincing start to the defence of their Premier League crown continues with the London club already playing catch up to early pace setters Manchester City.
