Top 5 Strikers In The World Right Now

Below is the list of the world's leading strikers right now. Their consistency over the past year has been taken into consideration. Also those forward players who don't play centrally like Messi and Muller are not considered strikers.

1. Ronaldo

Last year's Balon d'or winner and last season's golden boot winner (a record fourth) has made the transmission from an inside winger to a centre forward seamlessly. Although he still starts from the left he spends most of his time in the box.

All his goals last season came from inside the box eighteen with a majority of those coming from inside the box 9. Also, most of those goals also required him taking only one touch.

Although he is behind the injured Messi in the chart for goals scored this year, he was La Liga's top scorer last season and Champions League joint top scorer. He has scored 14 goals on 15 appearances this season. He is without doubt the world's leading no 9.

2. Suarez

The reason in Suarez not placing higher on the list is due to minor details as is the case at the top level of world football.

The Uruguayan and former Liverpool striker alongside country man Diego Forlan are the only players to win the European golden boot award since 2008 apart from Ronaldo and Messi.

In his golden boot winning season he was a Steven Gerrard slip away from leading Liverpool to a league title.

He has won every individual trophy possible in Netherlands and England. Following his move to Barcelona the former Ajax striker has gone on to performer better than expected forming a deadly partnership with fellow forwards Neymar and Messi contributing heavily in the club's treble triumph.

He is his country's all time top scorer with 43 goals in 82 games while leading a modest side to a Copa America title and a World Cup third place finish. He has scored 202 league goals over 315 appearances in his career.

3. Lewandowski

Polish no 9 and Bayern Munich striker was the hottest striker in the world for a month not long ago as he raced to 22 goals 16 appearances for club and country. While it seems he is over his purple patch he still amongst the world leading strikers.

He led his former club Borrusia Dortmund to two league titles and a Champions League title. He has also continued winning trophies with Bayern and just led his team Poland to the European Championships emerging as the top scorer over the qualifiers.

He has scored goals throughout his career famously scoring four goals away to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi final becoming the first player to do so.

On 22 September 2015, Lewandowski set a Bundesliga record by coming on as a substitute with Bayern trailing 0–1 to Wolfsburg and scoring five goals in 8 minutes and 59 seconds, the fastest by any player in Bundesliga history, to take a 5–1 lead.

He also set Bundesliga records for the fastest hat-trick(three goals in four minutes), and most goals scored by a substitute (five).

Lewandowski's five goals in nine minutes was also the fastest in any major European football league since Opta began keeping records.

He has scored 225 goals in 399 appearances in his career.

4. Benzema

French international and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been one of the top strikers in the world for quite a while now. Following the departure of Argentine Gonzalo Higuian from the Madrid club, the former Lyon striker has grown into his role as the club's no 1 striker. He has proved himself to be the perfect foil to his celebrated attacking partners Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez.

He possesses a good vision and solid technique which allows him to bring others into play, while chipping in with numerous assists.

He is not just a facilitator tho, he is also a very good finisher. He has scored 93 goals in 194 league appearances since joining the club in 2009.
He has scored 221 goals in 457 league appearances so far in his career.

5. Aguero

Manchester City legend and Premier League's no 1 striker. Sergio Aguero could easily have placed higher on this list, however due to his lack of success on the European level with Man City he finds himself on the fifth spot.

However it doesn't diminish the level of Aguero as a world leading striker whatsoever. On his day he is as deadly as a striker can be.

He possesses fantastic technique and with a low centre of gravity that allows him to change direction when he wishes and huge thighs that allow him to power bullet shots on goal his goal scoring record is impressive.

His last minute goal won Manchester City their maiden Premier League title in 2012. He is Manchester City's Top goal scorer in Premier League history.

His ex-manager at Manchester City,Roberto Mancini, has compared Agüero to former Brazilian striker, Romário, due to his goalscoring ability and technique. If not for his injury troubles the Argentine striker would definitely have achieved more in the game.

He has 239 goals in 465 league appearances in his career.
