After scoring the fourth goal in the Manchester United's 4-0 win over Club Brugge on Tuesday, the Spaniard has stated that the club must do their all to challenge for the European trophy
United were drawn into Group B of the competition on Thursday, along with PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg.
Herrera also advised that United "go step by step" as they attempt to win the club's first European trophy since 2008.
He also stated that it is the players' responsibility to ensure that they challenge for Europe's elite prize.
"It's too early," he replied when asked by reporters if United were challengers.
"We have to go step by step, but of course, we are representing one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"The history of the club says we have to fight for all the trophies, but we have to be prudent.
"Hopefully we can take Manchester United where they deserve to be."
United will be aiming to emulate Pep Guardiola's Barcelona side who won the UCL in 2009 after only qualifying through the playoff.
