Andy Murray sent packing from US Open by South Africa's Kevin Anderson

Despite a late attempt at a comeback by Andy Murray, Anderson was just too much for the Scotsman who found the South African's unusual game of big serving and heavy ground stroking too much to cope with.
It marks the first time Murray has failed to make the quarter finals of a grand slam in five years, ending a run of 19 consecutive quarter finals or better at the Grand Slams.
World no 14 Anderson who came into this match on an eight-match winning streak, claiming the ATP title in North Carolina along the way prior to the US Open, proved to much for Murray with his crisp ball striking in a desperately tight first set told of a man in prime form.
Murray instead found his serve and forehand often lacking bite. Despite swearing and grunting all through it could not fire him up ultimately falling to the big South African Kevin Anderson 7-6 6-3 6-7 7-6 to go out of the fourth round in a four hour, 16 minute marathon.
