Benzema is sad with Real Madrid despite trashing Shakhtar

The French forward was frustrated last night and revealed his disappointment with his team's attacking performance in the attacking third.

He also believes his team have the depth to cope with their latest injury setbacks.

Although Real demolished Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday, their attacking play left much to be desired by the French striker who scored the first goal via a goalkeeping blunder.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hattrick after the break, two of those goals were penalties and Benzema revealed his unhappiness with the team's inability to add to their lead before the break.

He told reporters after the match:

"The best thing was the victory because in the first half we didn't have rhythm and I don't know why."

"We lost control and we missed a lot of chances. It's rare and three top players were injured. The important thing is the points."

He also expressed his confidence in his team's ability to cope with the recent injuries which has hit the team:

"Many good players were injured, but there are sufficient staff to fill these positions."
