DAVID DE GEA SET TO STAKE CLAIM FOR MANCHESTER UNITED STARTING SPOT

De Gea hasn't played at all since two brief pre-season games, with Louis van Gaal opting to leave him out of United's matchday squads while there was still a possibility he could join Real Madrid, for the reason that he wasnt in the right frame of mind to play.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is set to prove that he is mentally ready for next weekend's crunchy Premier League clash against Liverpool by taking to the field for Spain against Macedonia on Tuesday evening for his first appearance of any kind in 2015/16.

That is obviously now over. There are still big questions over his mindset, though, but national team boss Vicente del Bosque is expected to give the 24-year-old the chance to prove himself in the Euro 2016 qualifier.

Del Boque explained, "De Gea is in condition to play. We have talked with him and he is fine." The World Cup winning coach added, "I do not know if he will play or not, but he is okay and that's all I wanted to know.

"He is a mature guy and is ready to play without suffering any burden of what happened. I have talked to him. I did not want to give him any advice because many people have already done it."
Despite refusing to guarantee if de Gea would start, del Bosque did imply that he would after speaking of the need for rotation in the group. Veteran stopper Iker Casillas started the last game against Slovakia.

"I just asked whether he was in condition to play and he told me yes. Nothing else. We have a big squad and we must rotate it," the former Real Madrid boss said.

"There are just a few hours to rest between games and it's normal to make changes. There is little difference between those who played (on Saturday) and those who didn't play. It is important to use the entire squad."

After Sergio Romero's dismal display in United's last premier league match, it would be nice to see who starts for them in a match against arguably their most hated opponent in the country.
But then again, who knows? it's Louis Van Gaal and his philosophies.
