Neymar doesn't need a new Barcelona deal - Neymar snr

Rumours have been abound recently that the Brazilian forward was angling for a new deal from Barcelona.

However his father has moved to quell all fears of a departure from Camp Nou.

His father told fans not to worry as his son is not desperate for a new deal.

The Brazil international was recently confirmed that he spoke to Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Neymar's current contract runs out in June 2018, and there has been speculation that the Brazil star is angling for an improved deal.

Recently Barca's technical director revealed a new contract for the 23-year-old was "on track" while club president Josep Maria Bartomeu had suggested he could retire at Camp Nou.

Neymar's father, who as his agent pocketed €40 million of the official €57m that Barca paid to purchase his son in 2013, played down talk of new contracts and new clubs.

Speaking to Deportes Cuatro Neymar Snr said:

"People can relax, Neymar is staying at Barcelona."

"We don't need to reach an agreement with Barcelona because he has three years left on his contract.

"The club doesn't need to sit down with Neymar for a contract renewal."

The player will be hoping to continue from where he left off last season after scoring 39 goals in 51 games last season to help the Catalans to Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey glory.
