Novak Djokovic wins US Open 2015 title after beating rival Roger Federer at Flushing Meadows as world No 1 toasts 10th grand slam

Despite facing arguably the greatest man ever to pick up a racket and a partisan Flushing Meadows crowd Novak Djokovic could not be broken.

The 28 year-old Serb whose rise to become the immoveable object at the top of men's tennis has been backed by an inhuman mental strength summoned all he could as he claimed a tenth Grand Slam title at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday.

The world No 1 defeated Roger Federer who had not dropped a set all tournament using his supreme defensive ability to curb the Swiss's attacking play to win 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in three hours and twenty minutes.

It was the third grand slam of the year for the Serb who would have been celebrating a calendar slam were it not for Stan Wawrinka's Tour de Force against him in Paris.

The 34 year old Roger Federer had looked at his best ever all tournament and was looking to claim his first grand slam since 2010, the world No1 would however have none of that as stormed to his second U.S. Open title.

The win saw him claim the money prize of £2.15 million. Following the win he said:

'It was a very difficult match, I have a tremendous respect for Roger, playing the best player in history adds to the pressure.

'I knew he was going to be very aggressive and not drop his level too much. I was serving at 5-2 in the fourth and Roger showed why he is a champion. I was fortunate to come up with some big serves in that last game.'

Losing finalist Roger Federer also had something to say:

'I had a wonderful last two weeks, I'm pleased with where my game is at. I enjoyed it and I thought it was a great match.'
