Villas-Boas decleares intention to leave Zenit

It has been revealed that the former Chelsea and Tottenham boss will depart the Russian champions when his current deal expires a the end of the season.

After guiding his side to the league title last season, things haven't gone according to plan for the Portuguese and he has decided not to renew his contract with the Russian champions.

The Portuguese had previously revealed his unhappiness with Russian football authorities decision to impose strict limits on the amount of foreign players allowed in Russian Premier League matches, which  lead to the departure of his leading scorer Jose Salomon Rondon to West Brom.

He told the media ahead of the club's match with CSKA Moscow on Saturday of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

"The club had made ​​me an offer at the end of last season, I have refused and at the end of this season I will leave the club," the 37-year-old said.

"But in any case we will continue to work hard, we need to collect points, to catch up with those ahead of us, to try to perform successfully in the Champions League.

"It is clear that we did not carry out any activity in the transfer market, which was expected, their wasn't a lot of choice out there, but we tried our best, although it is obvious that no reinforcements came, except for those players that moved early in the transfer window."

The Portuguese will now hope to spend more tim with his family who are still in Portugal when he leaves the Russian club.
