Wenger: Cech could be the key factor against Chelsea

The former Chelsea goal keeper is returning to west London for the first time since his summer departure and his new boss is confident the goalkeeper can have a positive influence.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger stated his belief in goalkeeper Petr Cech playing a vital role as his team seek to secure victory in their clash at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Czech international spent over a decade with Chelsea, enjoying a highly successful spell, winning numerous individual and team honours, before his £10m switch to north London this summer.

With Arsenal struggling against Chelsea in recent years, the Gunners with the former Chelsea goalkeeper in their side defeated the champions in the Community Shield earlier in the season.

Wenger pointed to his new shot-stopper's experience and aura as elements which could help his team achieve success:

"You know you have to score the perfect goal in front of him, I just want him to focus on this game and not be influenced by the occasion. You can't go there and wonder if you're standing in the right goal or not.

"It is always difficult to go back to your club and play but fortunately he has handled that this season. That is why I decided to play him in the Community Shield. It is the first step that is important and he has dealt very well with it."

Wenger will be looking to pick up just his second win against Mourinho's Chelsea, with his side having only won just four of their last 29 matches against Chelsea in all competitions.
