Carragher: 'Only Sergio Aguero is a better finisher than Daniel Sturridge'

The Liverpool forward who just made a return from a long injury lay off has been praised by his ex Liverpool teammate. The England striker scored twice to help Liverpool defeat Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend.

Sky pundit Jamie Carragher has stated that only player who is a better finisher than the Liverpool striker is Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

Carragher a former Liverpool vice captain having spent the whole of his career with the Reds between 1996 and 2013, hailed the England goal getter after his goal scoring display at the weekend.

Speaking on Sky's Monday Night Football show, he said:

'That coolness, if Liverpool can get him firing then there's only really Aguero who's a better striker than him.'

He reiterated: 'If Sturridge is at his best, if he can stay fit, like the Sturridge we saw when Liverpool almost won the league (in the 2013-14 season), if you look around the top teams, there's only Aguero you'd have before him.'

Sturridge, joined Liverpool from Chelsea for a reported £12million fee in January 2013. He has since scored 42 goals in 68 games in all competitions for the club.

However his time at the club has been distrupted by severy lengthy spells on the sidelines through injury.
