Ronaldinho leaves Fluminense after just NINE appearances

Ronaldinho has cut short his time with another club after a short spell. He had his Fluminense contract terminated by mutual consent and leaves the Brazilian club after making just nine appearances.

The announcement was made on Monday by Fluminense bringing an end to his short time at the club which lasted just two months. He had joined the club to much fanfare and adulations after another short stint in Mexico with Queretaro.

Below is the official statement released by the club:

'Fluminense hereby announces the breaking of their contract with Ronaldinho Gaucho in an amicable form and in mutual agreement between both parties.'

'Since first contract with directors, the athlete and his representatives treated the club with professionalism and respect.

'Fluminense and Ronaldinho will proceed with ties maintained and plans to work on other projects in the future.'

The two time world player of the year took to Twitter to thank the club on Monday morning, he said:

'With great respect and gratitude I take leave of this great club'.

Ronaldinho had signed a one and a half year deal with Fluminense in July but following a series of unimpressive performances off the pitch, it lead to criticism from the club supporters.

While the transfer was a failure on the pitch as he failed to register a goal or assist, the opposite was the case off the pitch for the club with the club acknowledging his commercial impact during his short time with the club.

'It's important to mention that the signing corresponded with our expectations in relation to marketing returns, increased ticket sales, sales of shirts and number of socios,' the statement added.

The player is now a free agent and the Barca legend will be pondering his next move;  where next to take his Samba.
