Star: 10,000 PAOK fans welcome Dimitar Berbatov as he pens two-year deal with Greek club

10,000 jubilant PAOK Salonika fans welcomed Dimitar Berbatov at their Toumba Stadium as the former Man Utd player signed a two year deal with the Greek club on Thursday.

The sort of welcoming he got was heroic. He is the highest-profile signing in the history of the club.

After putting on his No 10 jersey the Bulgarian spoke to the fans:

"Thank you so much for the reception, it's unbelievable; I didn't expect something like this, I'm just a simple person who plays football.'

'My father was born just 15 kilometers from the border (with Greece) so in some way we are like brothers, and as you always have to fight for your brother, I will fight for you.

'I want to thank (club president Ivan) Savvidis and colleagues for their perseverance in bringing me here and to see how special this place is.'

He is expected to be the highest paid player in Greece with the new deal he just signed which reports put at €1.6m (£1.2m) a year.
