Van Gaal reveals he bought Martial for Giggs

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that the club's marquee summer signing Anthony Martial was signed due to the fact that he will be of more benefit to his successor due to his young age.

He also revealed he expects his assistant Ryan Giggs to take reins of the club when he departs.
The deal to bring the Frenchman which is reported to be worth as much as €80 million was deemed "ridiculous" by Van Gaal.

He however hopes that with his young age he would be of benefit to the club in the future if he doesn't hit the ground running.

He told the club's executive season-ticket holders on Wednesday, the money spent on the 19-year-old was evidence of "the crazy world we are in".

"I have not bought Martial for me, I have bought him for the next manager of Manchester United,"

Referring to Giggs, he said:

"I feel I am introducing the next manager of Manchester United."
