Martial agent accuses Wenger of only following players but not buying them

New Manchester United hotshot Anthony Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley has refuted the   claims by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that his client is more suited to a wide role. He also accused the French manager of following players but failing to sign them.

The 19-year-old made a deadline-day transfer to Old Trafford that raised eyebrows throughout the footballing world due to his transfer fee which could rise to £58 million.

The transfer made the former Monaco striker the most expensive teenager in football history. The striker has not let the fee weigh him down hitting the ground running with four goals in four games.

With Wenger claiming that with the player being more of a winger than a striker as his reason for not signing the French youngster, his agent has moved to dispel such a notion.

His agent, Philippe Lamboley accused Arsenal of being a club that follow players rather than buying them. Speaking to RMCradio station he said:

"If the analysis of Wenger was to justify not having signed Anthony, then I accept his words and so he's a a winger. But in football there are those who follow players and those that buy them."

"Anthony is a true modern centre forward. I am surprised by the analysis of Wenger, who has apparently followed him since he was an adolescent."

Lamboley also his client's game, insisting that the 19-year-old has always been thought of as a striker.

"I don't agree with [Wenger] because Anthony scored between 25-30 goals a season when he was in Lyon's youth academy and never played as a winger," he added.

"When he goes wide and then comes central, it's to pick up speed and get away from the centre-backs."
